Thanks for the photos, I do have one question for you though - what's the best walking route to get between Gard De Nord and Gard de L'Est?

I'm looking at a trip via Paris next year and would rather not use a taxi if the distance is that close.

I've looked on other sites and it mentions it's a 10 minute walk, is it similar to walking distance as Kings Cross to St Pancras International is?

I like the photos by the way, ;)

Isnt there a walkway thing between the two now or has that not opened yet?

Ive done it dozens of times but I can never remember the route when Im not actually there.

I like Gare de l'Est, biggest station I can think of with no massive trainshed.

Easiest walking route from Nord to Est is to turn left, and head along the front of the Gare du Nord (past the suburban hall and post office). Carry straight on over the main roads at the pedestrian crossings - you'll see a concrete wall ahead of you, which will turn out to have the tracks into Gare de l'Est beyond it. Turn right, and carry on past a rather beaten-up looking bar whose seats are from old SNCF trains. Then there's a big staircase down to the Western entrance of Gare de l'Est.
