Noticed that the last train up to Ebbw Vale Last Night\ Early this morning ran back ECS as far as Park Junction and terminated, instead of running all the way back to Canton.

Q1. Is this related to SWML works?
Q2. Would the unit have been put in the single siding that remains there, or just held at the lights?
Q3. Would the signaller have kept an eye on the unit from the box, or the train crew had to stay with it?

Cant answer your question I'm afraid but looks like it continued onto Canton as this http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/V94431/2017/10/29/advanced so logically it must have been prevented from going in one go by engineering works.

You are of course correct, but that was around 6 hours later, which is why I was curious to know what they did in the dwell time.
Mostly interested as to whether the siding was used. I like to think these places still get used, however infrequently, rather than being ripped up to save on maintenance. Never seen anything as yet in that single siding.
