Hi folks,
Just a question out of interest, as I thankfully avoided needing to ask this for real: Yesterday I bought a Derbyshire Wayfarer and used it to travel on EMR Intercity from Long Eaton to Chesterfield, at 08.00. I hadn't realised (hadn't read the conditions carefully!) that the ticket isn't valid for use on Rail services before 09.00. For the first time ever, I encountered RPOs who got on at Derby (EMR are really cracking down!!), and thankfully they just glanced at the ticket and didn't question its validity.
But had they noticed that the ticket wasn't valid, what would have been the correct course of action? I know for an off-peak ticket at the wrong time, its an excess (which is very sensible!), but you can't really excess a rover/ranger, as its valid on so many services. So would they sell me a new ticket for my journey? Penalty fare me? I'd be interested to know!
