Hi, Purchased an Off peak return to Stockport from Wellingborough through EMR and also have family & Freiends railcard.
Had to choose departure time so chose 12:07.
Would we be able to get the earlier or later train? Also noticed that there was 2 options but different routes for the same departure does it matter what route we use.

On the ticket info it says:

Wellingborough >Kettering
Kettering >Leicester
Leicester >Nuneaton
Nuneaton >Stockport|

Thanks

Valid routes (Wellingborough)-Kettering-Stockport are shown on maps at https://data.atoc.org/routeing-maps:
  • EM + MH (Derby-Stoke-Stockport)
  • EM + MS (Derby-Crewe-Stockport)
  • MI + BP + BO (via Nuneaton and including via Birmingham as an option also)
  • PR (Sheffield-(Manchester-)Stockport)
My descriptions are only summaries of the allowed routes.
If you have an off-peak return routed "any permitted" then you can use any of these routes within the time restrictions for the ticket. You do not have to use the 12:07, for example.

The routeing guide gives two routeing points for Wellingborough - Bedford and Kettering. Only Kettering is allowed as part of a route Wellingborough-Stockport, and the routeing guide defines valid routes for Kettering-Stockport as above.

Ticket restrictions:
Outward Travel & Return Travel
Not valid on trains timed to depart after 04:29 and before 09:00.

Thanks for the reply. The ticket's say off peak open return any permitted route. So once we change at Kettering, we can use any route that goes to Stockport on the routing map at any off peak time that day within the ticket t&c's. So if we miss the 12:07 we can get a later train although it may be a different route to what our ticket says.

Yes. Your ticket doesn’t say a specific route, it says “any permitted”, it’s only the separate reservation that is for specific trains and therefore a specific route. Which you don’t have to use. (Unlike advance tickets which are valid on specific trains only.)

You can also stop off and break your journey as often as you want en route, again as long as you stick to the overall ticket rules - valid for one day outbound but one month for the return.

You don’t need to change at Kettering; if you happen to be on a train that passes through Kettering that’s fine also.
