I wonder if anyone could help with this error that comes up when I'm trying to purchase an m-ticket on the Northern Rail mobile app?

The error comes up when I'm trying to make a payment. My shopping basket is empty. The last ticket I purchased from Northern was a conventional ticket that I collected from a station ticket machine when I mobile phone was out for repair. Try as I might, I can't find a way past this error.

I tried phoning for technical support on the app, but didn't get anywhere.

The app has worked perfectly well until now.

What payment are you trying to make with nothing in the basket?

That's what I'm struggling to understand. I was trying to purchase an Anytime Day Return for tomorrow and the error shown came up when trying to make the payment via the stored debit card.

I have only 'Expired' tickets, for journeys made within the last 90 days, under the Tickets tab. Puzzled.

I'll use the Northern website and collect the ticket from the machine at the station tomorrow. Hopefully, it will get sorted for next week...

unistall it and use the LNER app and modern eTickets. ;)

Just received an email from Northern for their Northeneers survey program. They’re looking to introduce E-tickets potentially and are gathering feedback on them:

A quote from the email:
We’d like to know your thoughts about advance purchase tickets (these are tickets for a specific train service and can be bought up to six weeks in advance). We're also interested in how you’d feel about the potential introduction of E-tickets at Northern - when purchasing digitally these tickets are instantly available to download to your phone or print at home and don’t need to be activated prior to travel.

They have them on their flows they just don't retail them in the same way we have mTickets and Self Print available on our flows but don't retail those outdated formats.

There is no need to gather feedback. What a waste. We already know that they are far more popular than anything else. On the plus side, perhaps they have seen the light at last... only five years after they were first introduced.

I of course said they'd be great, as long as they actually were e-tickets. From their description though in the email they do sound to actually beware of what e-tickets are.

I also mentioned Apple Wallet integration too.

I completed the survey and said much the same thing as you said, I think the word I used for the existing m-tickets was "loathe" and that I don't use their "app" as a result.
