When seeking to minimise transport costs it's often useful to split a journey into separate journeys ticket-wise. To take advantage of this requires one to know the various routes by which a destination can be reached.

Is there a program or a website where you can put in departure and arrival places and it will show you all the various connection routes, all the separate journeys you could get a ticket for?

If not, could or should there be such a program or website? Thanks.

The only thing that springs to mind is Travel InfoSystems RailPlanner for this sort of thing. It is around £45. It is a very useful tool and it will plot routes and you can get it to show alternatives too. It will default to give options for the quickest route but you can manually add "via" options to see what options are there. This may be a little too manual for you though.

Also it does not link to pricing; it is a route planner only. It is great for working out the fastest way, and what trains to use so you can get from a to b via c, d, e, f and g.
