Hi,

I have recently just finished a training course in which I gained my pts card. We was promised we'd also get our small tools and manual handling but been waiting ever since for that . Was wondering is it possible at all to get a job with just a PTS card? I have had a look online but can't see anything. Not sure what to do next really? feel like i've possibly wasted time in getting a pts card.

Sorry to be negative just really want to get working asap.
cheers

What company passed you through the PTS course ? Was it an independent company or part of an employment training course for a TOC or NR ?

Was a company for unemployed I guess but wasnt put on by the job centre or anything. Saw it online and applied. Most annoying thing is having your hopes up expecting to be working.thought would be a fair amount of work in london.

Been there myself. Still the best way to view it is that you now have PTS. As with everything in life its gonna depend on what you do with it.

Hang about here and check for jobs as they pop up and send out your CV. Employers will certainly look on your getting the PTS positively and shows train-ability etc.

Next step is what do you want to do ? Driver and on-board stuff or Track and maintenance. Be as specific as you can and keep an eye on this forum section.

Cheers mate. Would like to do track work. Got to go back into the company who done our Pts training. I will mention that it'll be good for us to gain some other tickets such as small tools at least. I'm also going to get my cscs card I've done labouring work in the past but not got the card. Have seen a few jobs which require Pts and cscs so ill get that sorted. Was hoping then just to take on any job just to have the experience of working on track on my cv. Was hoping in the future to become a pway engineer but that's a long way off. Was thinking get in with a company and one day even if I have to pay for everything myself train to become an engineer. Anyway crawl before I walk, thanks again for the advice.

Passed an A frame of theirs this morning as I came out of cannon street.

They are advertising for a variety of pts jobs. I checked out the website and it looks like exactly what your looking for.

Good luck :)

Have you looked online at any of the contractors or even NR to see what jobs are available?

Get the job centre to assist you if need be. The work wont come to you - be proactive and hunt the jobs down - theres plenty of contractors out there

What company did you do your PTS with mate? I'm looking to do mine as well - how much did it cost you?

Cheers!
