Can I just ask if the speed restriction of 30mph is still in place? If so, how long has it been in place, what is the reason for the restriction, and what would need to be done to increase it if the Leeds - Bradford electrification goes ahead. Thanks in advance.

Yes it is still place and has been for the 19 years I’ve been driving through it. I don’t know the reason it’s 30mph though. As the line speed directly either side is 60mph.

ps it’s actual name is Stanningley tunnel

I believe it’s to do with the gauging. The train is very close the the tunnel wall in there.
