I hold an anytime single from a GWR station to London Paddington. All GWR services are terminating at Ealing Broadway during the Christmas Period. At Ealing I must transfer onto the underground for travel to central London. Question is will the ticket only be accepted for exit from the underground at London Paddington or will it be accepted for exit at any Zone 1 station?

Hard to find, but the TfL website confirms the following:

TfL said:
There are no National Rail services at Paddington. Instead, routes will depart and terminate at Ealing Broadway station. Visit the GWR site for more information and alternative routes - especially if you need lifts or escalators, as there's no step-free access at Ealing Broadway.

Tickets will be accepted by the following:

  • TfL buses
  • Acton Town station
  • Ealing Broadway station
  • Euston station
  • Hammersmith station
  • Hillingdon station
  • Marylebone station
  • Notting Hill Gate station
  • Paddington station
  • Waterloo station

  • Chiltern Railways
  • London Midland
  • South West Trains
  • Virgin Trains
Please re-plan your journey before you travel, and make use of the alternative services.

Pretty bad that they've not provided stock answers to questions like these. Why should people have to pay more for the privilege of being delayed?

If your original journey was to Paddington, then Oyster/contactless to a zone 1 underground destination, what do you do?

Delay yourself even more by:
travelling first to Paddington to touch in?
getting off the train at Notting Hill Gate, going up to the gateline to touch in, then back down onto a later train?
travel to your original destination, speak to staff and touch (in? out?), and have staff apply a correction for the incomplete zone 1 journey?
touch in at Ealing Broadway, then make a (breach of contract) claim to GWR to compensate you for the additional costs you incurred?
