Question regarding refund [edit: actually Delay Repay]

Hi all,

I was planning on getting refund on several train journeys I attempted to make today.

08:06 from Swanscombe to London St Pan
17:02 from London St Pan to Swanscombe
17:32 from London St Pan to Swanscombe
18:02 from London St Pan to Swanscombe

My question is, am I able to claim against all three outgoing trains or just the one, in addition to the morning journey?

Kind regards,

Jack

Just my Southeastern annual key card. It does allow me on Thameslink trains but unclear how the refund policy works.

So you are claiming "delay repay" through the operators website - you are not claiming a 'refund'?

(Never claim a refund on tickets which have been used to travel - the correct delay repay process MUST be followed.)

Regarding your return journey, you claim for the train you originally intended to catch, which from your initial post would be the 1702.

The length of the delay for which you claim is the time you eventually arrived at your destination station.

Yes, delay repay, sorry.

Thank you for the advice. My logic (although I admit it is flawed) is that I intended to catch the 17:02 and when that was cancelled I intended to catch the 17:32 and so on. I assume that won't work?

My journey was delayed by two hours but thankfully the train came equipped with its own sauna I was able to share with the other passengers. o_O

I ended up taking tube to Charring Cross and a Gravesend Train from there. I must have reached Swanscombe around 7pm.

You had one delay then, arriving later than your scheduled 18:10. We can't say what level of compensation would be due if you can't say which train you took from Charing Cross.

I can go back and check (I texted someone when I was on the train so I can work out the exact time from there) but it's one delay, yes?

Ah I see. Okay, thank you. I’ll submit two claims in the morning one for the inward journey and one for the outward.

@Jack D. Be interesting to see just how much 'Delay Repay' you'll be entitled to claim (from Thameslink). Assuming they were 30-59 minute delays on both the outbound and return journeys yesterday, although it might be more on the latter, I think that would be 2 x 50% of the cost of a single journey, this calculated at 1 x 464th of the cost of the annual season ticket, which for Swanscombe to London St. Pancras is likely currently £4104.00 (or maybe £3924.00 if bought before early March 2025). So, maybe a total of £8.84 due back, which doesn't seem all that much! Anyone agree/disagree with these rough calculations?

I’ll keep you updatedZ

Previously I’ve received £20 (ish) from Southeastern for previous journey cancellation.

I submitted my claims this morning and the Thameslink website says it will take about 14 working days to process.

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

Award Amount: £20.50

That’s for the homeward journey. No word for the inward cancellation yet.
