Morning all.

I was travelling from Balham to Norbury, this afternoon. Due to "power supply problems", trains were running non-stop (via the fast lines) from Balham to Selhurst, and passengers were advised to circulate back to Thornton Heath / Norbury / Streatham Common.

Why didn't trains stop at Streatham Common / Norbury / Thornton Heath on the fasts? Given the huge step down from the train at Selhurst, I'd imagine that that's a good contender for the other three stations, or was the intention not to delay the mainline too much by letting the locals stop at all shacks?

Curiosity killed the cat, and all that jazz. Thanks in advance!

Jim.

I suspect it may be capacity. Those lines are very busy with 2 tracks in each direction. Put it down to 2 and you're near saturation point without additional calls! I'd say that to allow trains to call you'd probably need some cancellations. It's better to ask people to circulate back I'd say.

It's because the stopping trains are DOO, and there is no DOO equipment on the fast lines. Nothing to do with capacity, as the Sunday timetable is designed to operate with only two tracks to cater for engineering works.
