Hi,

I've had an issue with an Auto Top-up on my Oyster not going through (cancelled debit card after losing it) and I'd rather just let the Oyster be cancelled/blacklisted than pay up (no moral denunciations, please - just looking for advice on technicalities). This has happened to me before with a previous debit card and I just left it - TfL stopped sending me emails after a while. The only issue this time is that my 16-25 railcard is attached to my Oyster. Does anyone know whether I'll be able to attach it to a new one once the current card is blacklisted, or will I run into difficulties?

Thanks for any advice,
HC.

You do know you can amend the debit card on your Oyster online account?

Technicalitites? Well, if the balance on the card is less than the failed topup minus the card deposit then you are very much morally in the wrong. I'm not going to offer advice to someone in that position. Other than to say that you can pay the outstanding amount on receipt of the email telling you that the auto topup has failed. If TfL realise you've done it multiple times then they may take more of an interest in contacting you. They do have your bank details, remember.
