What are your favourite adverts using Railway settings?


I can't quite remember the full context - but the one with two class 37s? one painted as a "Police" patrol comlpete with Blues and twos pulls over another for "speeding" - as if on a motorway - I think it was filmed on the Newcastle / Carlisle line in the 1980s.

The other one I really liked was "Night Mail" (words by W Auden) which was by British Transport Films as a sort of public information film (cinema short?)

Sorry if I've got any details wrong!

Some of these (that Chiltern one, the Central one, the Southern "loco" one) seem horribly cheap and tacky.

I do like the Virgin "Return of the Train" one (from the Pendolino introduction)

I prefer this one and the last VT one as they include STD, not just 1ST. Makes a lot of difference in my eyes.
