Real-time locations from Darwin

Is it possible to use the feed from Darwin to get coordinates I can plot on a map?
If it's not possible to use Darwin then the normal TRAIN_MVT_ALL_TOC feed would work.

I can see the data coming in but for the life of me I cant work out how to map the STANOX or NLC to any real coordinates on a map for almost real time locations.

I've tried using TPS and the NWR Track Model with no luck.

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be a bit help.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, please let me know where it should be posted if so.

Are you wanting Darwin (northern Australia) or Darwen (Lancashire)?
Darwin - the system used by railway to provide data on train movements, not any place.

About Darwin
Darwin is the GB rail industry’s official train running information engine, providing real-time arrival and departure predictions, platform numbers, delay estimates, schedule changes and cancellations. It is the only system in the UK to take feeds directly from every TOC customer information system (CIS), combining it with train location data provided by the railway infrastructure manager, Network Rail.

Not sure Darwin is completely the right feed you'd want for mapping purposes.

Can you suggest one that is? Or even some source to get this from each operator individually

I'm not an expert, but I think you would want something related to TD berths instead. There are many systems like Open Train Times and SignalMaps that use data like this.

Ah ok I saw this but couldn't find any mappings from the TD berths to any other form of data or positioning, I could have been looking in the wrong place.

TD berths are the best you can get that's publicly available. However some areas don't have train describers, and the granularity can be anything from a couple hundred meters to a few miles.

https://www.signalbox.io/ is probably closest to what you're looking to make, but there are a lot of assumptions and work involved to interpolate the TD into positions and it's impossible to make it perfect.

What you want is CIGP (Customer Information GPS Platform) data, which isn't currently publicly available. You can show demand for it by thumbs up/commenting on this data want on the Rail Data Marketplace

Nothing in the public domain for this sadly. Here's another data want https://raildata.org.uk/want/W-06185063-150a-44c7-be87-2425c04b98d8

Edit: some berth information is avaliable here https://wiki.openraildata.com/index.php/List_of_Train_Describers

Thanks, I've thumbs-up those links you shared and will keep an eye on them. I must have missed signalbox while doing searching, I'll stick to the data it puts out for now.
