I have a Z1-3 annual Travelcard issued at London Marylebone. The associated Gold Record Card is almost completely faded so I am trying to get it replaced, as staff are looking very askance at it when I present it.
I went to Marylebone and was told that the Oyster pad on the ticket office machine was down and they could not do anything with it, and that I should go to a "TfL office" to replace it. I contacted TfL who said that since the ticket was issued by an NR station they could not service it and I should go to the office where I bought it. I tweeted Chiltern and on their advice I went back to Marylebone this evening, where the ticket office clerk scanned my photocard and asked a colleague how to reprint the Gold Record Card; he didn't try anything, just shook his head and said it can't be done.
Concerned about being issued with a PF or worse whilst using a discounted ticket, I eventually managed to convince the clerk to write the expiry date on the back of the card and stamp it with the station stamp so at least I have something he was barely willing to do that because he said it would be "defacing the card" and the two clerks just repeated "you'll have to go to a TfL office", despite my pointing out that all LU booking offices have now closed down. I know that Gold Record Cards can be reissued somehow, as it happens when a card is lost and replaced.
Does anyone know what I need to do here? I'm not especially interested in trying another Chiltern station without some assurance that it can actually be done and that I won't be taken further into this Kafkaesque cycle of fobbing-off. The only thing I can think of is to report the card stolen and wait for a new Oyster and Gold Record Card in the post, but then I need to pay for my travel whilst I wait for that.
