First of all, Hi! Newbie to the rail industry here. ;) I've got a couple of queries and was hoping some of the more experienced members here may be able to help me, as googling has drawn a bit of a blank.

I'll keep it as brief as possible in order to not bore you. :D

I'm a construction worker, I usually work doing cladding/structural glazing.

Earlier in the year I had an interview for a contract on the Birmingham New Street Station re-development. I was successful, and as a result I had to do the PTS medical and D+A, after passing that I successfully completed the basic 2 day PTS course, enabling me to get on site.

Unfortunately, the company I was supposed to start work for was undercut on their contract at the last minute, leaving me a bit high and dry...even more unfortunately, my PTS card and D+A certificate was being kept in their office, and now I can't get in contact with them in order to get hold of them.

So, my queries are:

1: Can I, as an individual, get a replacement card in order to get on site with another company without a current sponsor, as I will be getting work through agencies?

I've seen a few jobs advertised with good rates of pay and I'm currently struggling for work, so it's very frustrating having the qualification but being unable to take advantage of it. Does anyone know who to contact to replace it, the original training provider? Any idea of cost?

2: Re the D+A certificate: It's still valid until next May but I don't have the original, will I have to retake the test or will my test be on file somewhere, checkable to potential employers? Or, can I get a replacement copy from the company which did the tests? If I do need to take the test again, will I require a sponsor also?

Apologies for the long rambling post, and thanks in advance for any answers. I'm going to contact both the training provider and medical company later, but forewarned is forearmed, and it'd be nice to know what exactly I'm going to have to do to resolve the situation.
