Due to the closure of the Oxford- Didcot line XC services between Manchester Pic and Oxford are now 2 hourly as are services between Didcot and Bournemouth (I won’t ask why) but is there a reason why they don’t connect up with each other and leaves you with an hour wait at either Oxford or Didcot?????

The hour's wait only applies northbound - in the southbound direction it works.
(The XC service between Reading and Didcot is hourly anyway)

The reason for Oxford-Birmingham International only being 2-hourly is obscure though - my guess is that someone somewhere has refused to sanction the additional traincrew hours that would be required for a better timetable (the diagrams have been messed up by the split). That is poor!

The reason for XC not operating hourly south of Reading is the changes insisted on during post-Covid.

Reading to Bournemouth hourly resumes next month.
