Would an off peak return be permitted on the following
Rishton to Preston
Preston to Crewe
Crewe to Rugby
Rugby to Northampton

Returning
Northampton to Milton Keynes
Milton Keynes to Manchester
than either Manchester to Preston and then on to Rishton or Manchester to Blackburn via Darwen.

Firstly, if you can get an itinerary for your journey, then if you book on that website with that itinerary shown, and travel in accordance with that itinerary, you have evidence of a contract, and is therefore valid.

A very quick search of a booking engine for a random weekday in 2016 shows itineraries via Preston & Milton Keynes Central (MKC).

I am assuming you want flexibility and won't be using a specific itinerary, so we need to consult the Routeing Guide.

The routeing point calculator tells us both Accrington and Blackburn are appropriate Routeing Points for Rishton.

Northampton is a Routeing Point, so that's easy.

Look at the yellow pages and you will see Blackburn-Northampton is only valid on map EP.

A quick look at map EP shows it's mapped via Preston & MKC.

Easement 700438 states "Customers travelling from Northampton to or via Stafford in possession of tickets routed "Any Permitted may double back via Milton Keynes. This easement applies in both directions."
