Routemaster4Hire is (was?) a small company running a Routemaster hire service and open top tours near Wrexham. They also maintain and renovate buses, with a fortnightly Youtube posting showing progress on their latest project. https://www.youtube.com/@Routemaster4Hire

However, the last post was over a month ago, and I've seen reference on the web that the company is closing down early in the New Year. Can anyone confirm this, and provide any further details?

I'm emailed a Welsh Bus Newsletter by produced by someone who was in the PSV circle - his December edition which he emails out has the following- credit to welsh-bus-news
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Routemasters 4 Hire, Llay
Owner David Lee has declared that the business is to close early in 2023. It is believed that the Wrexham to Chester
running day on 1 January is still planned to happen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure if you contacted Routemaster4hire on facebook or youtube they'd easily confirm or deny the story.

Not all the buses they're using are owned by David - I think two remain (RM1214 and open top RM1783). The latter was up for £60k on ebay in the summer - RM471 was for sale for £45k and sold.

1783 is £59,999 more than I presently afford, sadly :( I knew her well in Cornwall with Western Greyhound.

Check out the news blog section of www.ronsbusesandcoaches.com. A great site covering the North Wales bus and coach scene. You will have to scroll down a bit!

Sad to report that news emerged over the weekend that Routemaster 4 Hire is to close early next year. This business was started by David Lee 10 years ago. He combined his business acumen with his enthusiasm for former London buses. In addition to supplying his buses for weddings and corporate events they also performed in films and TV productions. He also used them on a tour from Llangollen and they were seen during the summer at Prestatyn where the town council contracted with him to run one of his Routemaster buses around the town for a few days during the summer season.

In addition to David there was a team of enthusiasts that worked with him, some of them owning their own preserved ex London buses.

This team also organised a couple of enthusiast events including the New Years Day Wrexham to Chester running day - which I am happy to find that according to Facebook appears to be still going ahead.

Such a shame as they really cared for the buses and work appeared to be done to high standard

Yes, my reference to the web did refer to this blog, but I couldn't find anything else to confirm it. The page was posted before the latest Youtube video, so I am surprised that there was no reference to the closure in the video.

As @delt1c comments, they do seem to do a thorough job and have a passion for it.
