Royal Scotsman in Dundee Bay Platform 3

Was just walking by and this caught my eye, 9 carriage Royal Scotsman in the bay platform which surprised me as it’s so long the loco is a full carriage length beyond the signals.

I assume as long as it’s not blocking other lines it’s fine but is that usual operating procedure?
