Hello
I was wondering if anyone could advise me on which ticket/s would offer me the best value for money and would also be valid on my required route

It is a bit complicated for me to explain but I'll do my best "apologies in advance"

On Friday I am planning to make a return journey from Glasgow Central to Coatbridge,
on my outward journey I will be catching the train from Glasgow Central to Coatbridge Central were i am looking forward to visiting the Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life

A Glasgow to Coatbridge Central return is perfectly valid.

Direct trains run via Hamilton & Motherwell. Changing at Whifflet to go via Bargeddie is the shortest route.

Agree that the Glasgow-Coatbridge Central ticket is valid via Bargeddie. In fact, the route via Bargeddie would have been the most logical route until relatively recently.

Just to check, you are aware that Coatbridge Central isn't the main station in the town? It's the handiest for Summerlee without a doubt, but it will still take considerably longer than the train to Sunnyside (out of Queen Street). This route does have the benefit of being more interesting (IMO), and it works out nicely for your return trip, but it will probably take longer on the way out.

(The only reason I point this out is that I know someone more than trebled their commute time by going to Coatbridge Central, and didn't realise for several weeks that there was a station at Sunnyside!).
