I am trying to find the address of the Scout Motor Services booking office (for express services, tours, excursions etc) in Preston in the 1950s.

Possibly Sheppard xxxxxx based on a fuzzy image on Fickr but could be completely wrong.

Any ideas?

Not heard of ‘Sheppard’ as part of their address before - I had the impression that their garage, enquiry office and head office address was Starchhouse Square, Preston.

Ribble Timetable 1947 has:
Scout Motor Services Ltd, Starchhouse Square, telephone 3051.
A note says 'tickets not available at office'.

References in the Ribble books by TB Maund all refer to Starchhouse Square (and Foxhall Road, Blackpool)

When I was a boy in the 1950's I would go with my parents from Leyland to Preston Fox Street on Fishwicks and then walk the short distance to Starchhouse Square where we would catch a Scout bus to Blackpool. They preferred Scout to Ribble because it was cheaper.

My late father-in-law, Prestonian born and bred, worked for Scout Motor Services from the early 1930s until its takeover by Ribble in 1961, and then for that company at Frenchwood until the 1980s. My wife, as his older child, took possession after he died of the watch he received on retirement suitably engraved on the back detailing that career.
