I have both railcards. I'm aware the Gold Card has geographical restrictions, but other than that, does one Card have an advantage over the other?

Accompanying persons are also entitled to discounted travel when travelling with the Annual Gold Card holder?

The Senior Railcard is valid for use across the whole of Great Britain, and has less onerous time restrictions. On the other hand the Gold Card can be used to apply a discount to up to 3 adults and 4 children travelling with you. So, yes, one has an advantage over the other depending on the circumstances. The Gold Card can also be used to buy a discounted Senior Railcard, so it is relatively cheap to have the best of both worlds.

The Senior Railcard can also be used to discount Advance tickets, whereas the Gold Card can't. That can result in a very significant saving for some journeys.

If you a Gold Card holder and are eligible for a Senior Railcard, you would generally just be best off buying the Senior Railcard too for £10, as you can do once a year using your Gold Card. There will almost inevitably be situations where having both helps.
