Should all doors open on release?

Similar to LUL operation and to decrease dwell and boarding times, should mainline train doors all open upon release and then slam shut again a few seconds later, similar to Class 345s and Thameslink 700s in the London Cores.

The amount of times I've seen passengers standing at the doors staring aimlessly at a flashing button and not pressing it is becoming a real pain in the proverbial.

Petition to modify all mainline trains to open doors then slam close around 3-5 seconds later to keep the HVAC inside the train.

Yes, if there is a bulkhead between the vestibule and saloon, yes, certainly, if there isn't, then no.

Train doors do not slam shut again a few seconds after opening.

Errrm, yes they do. See a Class 345 or any Aventra.

Driver releases doors
Passenger opens doors (after staring at it for 30 secs)
Passenger disembarks.
Sensor above door senses nobody disembarking.
Door closes to keep HVAC air con or heat inside.
Beep beep beep beep.

I repeat they do not slam shut.
I am fully aware how 710/345 doors open and close.

It's normally 30 seconds, not 3.

I'm sure you know fully well what he means, which is that they close again. Trying to make a point that they don't have slam doors is outrageously pedantic ;)
No, I do not know full well what he means, and do not try and tell me that I do, slam doors to me, means they slam shut without any warning and very fast. When actually they mean: they have the standard warning/beeps. Then the door slides shut at the same pace as any other sliding doors on the network. But thank you for your input.

...and a lot of people just push the buttons anyway, even after the doors have started to open...
It can’t hurt to be sure, to be sure ;)

Although I do have to say that it is a stark contrast to EMR, where I sometimes have to reach over passengers to open the door for them!
