Hi all.

Every day I pass Victoria station and I notice the two tracks that branch off the Victoria line SB and NB tracks to the sidings.

I understand that this used to be the line's terminus but that they are still used in certain circumstances.

Does anyone have any pictures of them? I've found these excellent photos of the siding north of King's Cross.

Can you reach ground level from the end of the sidings? Can you access both sidings from each other (are they separate tubes)?

Thanks very much!

Okay, if I looked a little harder I would have found pictures from the same photographer.

Still curious about the access information.

In answer to your first question, it is not possible to reach ground level from the sidings and the majority of such tunnels end at a dead end wall. I believe some sidings do have access between them at track level, but not sure whether this is the case at Victoria - normally, if the sidings are being used the train operator will change ends by walking through the train. A train will normally only be left in the sidings if it is defective, and they are normally used to reverse a train in the event of line closure or late running.

Yes there is access between both sidings and there is an emergency exit at one end, although I have never tried to personally explore whether this reaches street level or the station or indeed if the exit is still in use.

Victoria sidings are used to stable trains at night and there are a few timetabled duties which need to reverse via them
