In 2002, Siemens and British transport company FirstGroup agreed to develop a replacement for the aging InterCity 125 high-speed DMUs, the Venturio UK. However, Britain's Strategic Rail Authority ordered a halt to the programme.

Probably as well that it didn't - the ICE-TD was not DB/Siemens' finest hour, being highly unreliable.

Reliability wise it may have been poor, but comfort wise they'd have been without a shadow of a doubt better than what we've been lumbered with now though.

More so if they had come with an interior similar to the DB Versions. That is standard class.
