Hello all,

I have taken heavy interest in this line lately and have looked at various modern photos on the internet and done some research. from the bridges over the line that i can stand on, there seems to be a gap in signal numbers. the line that spurs off south east at barrow hill sidings goes down to another spur to complete a triangle. there are two signals there which are visable from the road one of which is S 253 and I assume S 254. if i walk further down i can just about see signal 257, yet on this disused line there does not seem to be any signals in between.

i wondered if anyone has any diagrams or photos from when the line was in use to help me investigate the infrastructure more.this line in its modern context used the old GCR chesterfield loop track bed, which is also another reason why i take deep interest.

any information would be great, headcodes, signalling diagrams, working time tables and photos are all of interest so i can build up some documentation on the history of the line. any help is appreciated, cheers

Hi MCW,

Try the following link (remove 'w' spaces!):

w w w.simsig.co.uk/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=usertrack:mans:sheffield

There's a link to a PDF titled: 'Sheffield.....Modern era signalling diagram'

Download and go to page 5. Hopefully helpful ;)
