Noted two interesting changes to South London metro services promised for December:

- Steve White saying in latest Modern Railways that Victoria-Orpington will be going to 4TPH all day, which would be very welcome and a return to the pre-Covid frequency. This is badly needed, especially on Saturdays when the trains are rammed, and also brings the route into line with all SouthEastern's other south London suburban routes
- The local MP Ellie Reeves has tweeted that from December Penge West and Anerley will have direct 'peak' trains to London Bridge and Forest Hill and Sydenham will go from 2x to 4x peak Southern TPH. No mention of definition of 'peak' and also - just as importantly - whether there will be a direct link to East Croydon from these stations heading south, which a lot of people relied on.

Anyone know any more about these developments?

The Southern changes have been muted but not sure where either of them getting stock from although at least in SE case they could resuscitate some of the stored Networkers

The 379 led cascade is the supposed source of stock.

Southeastern running 4tph between Victoria & Orpington doesn't require any additional stock with it being 4tph in the peak already.

379s to Great Northern would displace 387s which would go to Southern and potentially 377s to Southeastern

SE have the same stock as pre covid don't they? It was generally one in, one out in terms of overall carriages with 707s for networkers eg two five car 707s replaced 2 465s and a 466 sent to storage. That suggests they can restore cuts seen on a few lines

Off-peak 4tph that is, considering it is 4tph in the peak (and a fair bit either side). The other 2tph did for a while also terminate at Bromley South after Thameslink took paths

Peak is normally 0630-0900 and 1600-1900.

It looks like the gap would be xx40 and xx10 (Sydenham times) towards London in the current timetable. It depends whether there's a suitable southern terminus; whether Coulsdon Town would be acceptable in the peak again or what happens to Cat/Tat services

I heard that 379's "cascade" will be for May/Jun 25 uplift - there are changes planned for Dec from more efficient usage of existing stock.

The Southeastern timetable page indicates some upcoming changes for December

More than 200 extra services every week from December

As our railway continues to grow, we are listening to your feedback, and have more changes planned later this year.

Our next timetable update starts on Sunday 15 December and will bring an additional 205 services per week.

This includes the introduction of 12 additional ‘rounder’ services on the Sidcup and Greenwich lines in the morning and evening peaks, improving access to the Elizabeth Line, as well as linking the Sidcup line with Cannon Street and New Cross.

These services will call at: Cannon Street, London Bridge, Deptford, Greenwich, Maze Hill, Westcombe Park, Charlton, Woolwich Dockyard, Woolwich Arsenal, Plumstead, Abbey Wood, Belvedere, Erith, Slade Green, Crayford, Bexley, Albany Park, Sidcup, New Eltham, Mottingham, Lee, Hither Green, St Johns, New Cross, London Bridge and Cannon Street.

We will also increase off-peak and evening stopping services between Victoria and Orpington via Herne Hill to provide trains every 15 minutes – enabling a ‘turn up and go’ Metro timetable.

Two evening services from Charing Cross to Maidstone East extended to Ashford International, calling at Bearsted, Hollingbourne, Harrietsham, Lenham and Charing.

We expect these services to show in Journey Planners from this autumn and we will share more details closer to the time.
