For anyone unaware, SWR have advised that due to a shortage of train crew, services may be altered, delayed or cancelled across the whole SWR network tomorrow, Friday 6th September.

Very little information available at the time of this post on both their social media site and website, with SWR saying more information will be published ‘overnight’.

Due to a shortage of train crew on Friday 06 September train services running across the whole South Western Railway network may be cancelled or revised.

Is there an industrial relations issue that has come about? I've noticed it happen a lot more recently whereas their overtime ban service wasn't that bad when compared to Thameslink.

Otherwise I guess 701 and 458/4 training could be an issue?

How many did you see? Chances are trainee drivers as there’s training going on.

No industrial relation issues just shortages.

Doesn't look like that many services cancelled. Is it just the standard Farnham depot being short?

There was reportedly (somewhere?) flooding on the Alton road yesterday, effectively closing the line South of (IIRC?) Aldershot, and the heavens have deluged the wider area several times today. Don't know if the line is still shut, but if so, a fair few units will be left unusable on FN shed and their crews won't be able (even by road) to get to their booked duties later in the day without a number of cancellations.

Interesting, thank you. Wonder where actually flooded.

The line was only closed for a short period of time in the end. There have been shortages of drivers at Farnham for a while now. Some days it's manageable, some days it leads to a fair few cancellations.

We've had two days of really heavy rain -Thursday & Friday. I'm surprised that more services weren't disrupted on the SWR Network as I travelled without bother on both days. The rain seemed to have missed London as it was simply boringly damp there rather than anything more serious

The heavy rain of the last two days seems to have been very localised. Sitting through another deluge in west Surrey yesterday morning, I was amazed that play was happening at the Oval only thirty miles away. It was heavy enough to overwhelm road drains several times.
