The foot of the SouthEastern Railway Home Page sets out a list of links to each of 11 policies of the SouthEastern Railway

And clicking on the link to Revenue Protection Policy - you land on a screen headed with "We aim to clarify passenger responsibilities when travelling with us"

And said page includes - Full details of passengers' responsibility to purchase a ticket are in the

UNDERLINED - National Rail Conditions of Travel (NCRoT) - END OF UNDERLINING

Suggesting a link to said item

And clicking on such a "link" takes you to -

"We can't find the page you are looking for It looks like that page no longer exists"

Can the forum confirm that the NCRoT no longer applies when travelling with SouthEastern Railway

And/or do the forum agree that SouthEastern Railway have wholly failed with regard to "We aim to clarify passenger responsibilities when travelling with us"

The forum will, I expect, confirm that the conditions do apply and a broken link on the website does not suggest anything to the contrary. Have you complained to Southeastern about the broken link?

All railway Tocs work under the NRCOT what is it your asking?
just because there's an issue with the page doesn't mean something no longer applies.

That's complete nonsense and I'm not sure what point you're trying to make?

“If one link is broken on a website, does this mean the conditions of carriage no longer apply?”

Is that the question, really?

It works for me

The specific link set out by the OP doesn't work for me.

I agree with the consensus that the answer to the questions is 'no - don't be silly' (more detailed analysis: UK law is not analogous to laws of science which (if fully understood) cannot be broken or varied, and neither is it like a recipe which will go wrong if you put a different wrong amount of flour in from what it says in the book - rather it's a creation of fallible human beings for use by them and other fallible human beings, and always needs to be interpreted with a degree of common sense: here, common sense requires that an error on one page of a website cannot possibly amount to varying contractual and legal requirements) but for clarity, can I confirm that you're looking at the link 'https://www.southeasternrailway.co....-/media/2686fdc15e1147d7af179d3e3ee1b2e9.ashx' on https://www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/about-us/our-policies/revenue-protection-policy ?

I have reported the broken link to SE. Hopefully, it will be fixed soon and parity will be restored to the universe.

Thank for for all of your responses

I was confused as it was SE saying on their web page

"We can't find the page you are looking for It looks like that page no longer exists"

Implying that there could be something new that has replaced NCRoT

I was wanting to check something that I felt sure would be in the NCRoT or in its replacement

Overall I see the SE pages as especially helpful and much trusted by myself, and are my bookmarked first port of call

That's a pretty universal message generated when a 404 (page not found) is returned. It simply means that the webserver couldn't find the page you asked for.

My browser had a cached link to NRCoT at NR which recently went 'not found'. I suspect NR did some webserver housekeeping.
