Does Southern still operate services on this route? There are absolutely no services on the timetables.

Southern hasn't been an operator since 2015.

All services branded Southern are operated by GTR; it's just a brand name.

GTR don't operate any Southern branded services via Wimbledon in the current timetable.

They were planning to reintroduce it in May, but then the 455s got scrapped and so was the idea

I remember getting First Capital Connect from Wimbledon to Tooting for secondary school, and there was an 0753 Southern service from Wimbledon to London Bridge! When was this discontinued?

Covid, as mentioned in post #4.
It was still in the May 2020 timetable which was never implemented.

Southern driver route knowledge on the route has lapsed. Theyd have to learn it all again.

Southern services no longer run on the Sutton Loop. Not since covid, that's what stopped it

Have they ever, recently, incidentally? I thought it had been Thameslink for quite some time, perhaps even since 1988 (though I haven't been following it continuously).

The main service was Thameslink, but until a couple of years ago there were a few peak extras to/from London Bridge run by Southern.

They were doing route-refreshers about a year ago with the intention of re-instating the service after covid, but it never happened

OK, thanks for that.
The intention had been to run a secondary SN service between Blackfriars and London Bridge via the Sutton Loop, which in early 2020 was in abeyance, (the leg between Wimbledon and Blackfriars), because it required changes to other services using Blackfriars bay platforms. I remember it being discussed as a future thing in a thread in early 2020, but as others have mentioned it didn’t survive Covid.

Ah, a later discussion in Sep 2020 is a better one because I’d included the route description from the franchise details:

The list of services for Southern to bring back and services to restore to full carriage length is immense. It’s not coming back.
