Hi,

How long do you have to have worked for GWR to get the £6 travel for friends/family if they are with you? Also do you just show your work pass or does a different pass come through post?

thanks :)

Happy to be corrected but I think it was 6months (ie probation period) before I was granted access to the rewards portal. You register with your work email and if you're eligible they will send you an email granting access.

You get a print at home ticket, that states the number of people who are travelling for £6 and the staff pass holder and their staff pass number. A GWR pass holder - either yourself, spouse/partner or dependant, must be the "lead" traveller.
They are date specific and have to be bought at least 48hrs in advance, there's also a maximum time in advance but can't remember what that is.
Also, if you want to use SWR you'd also have to buy an SWR rover, and in that instance you'd have to pay £6 for yourself also

The bus tickets come sent as weekly scratch off tickets, pretty much the same as a member of the public would buy on the bus, but at a much cheaper rate. Tip for those - if you're planning to use them, buy in bulk. Postage is charged each time they're sent out, so if you order ten at once you pay postage once rather than ten times if you bought separately - they ask for a date but they actually come undated and you do that when first use it

Are you sure they need to be bought 48 hours in advance? I normally buy mine on the day (or the day before) with no issue.

A friend who buys them for me and others gets them less than 48 hours in advance.

Indeed. I’ve bought them on the day too, unless it varies from TOC to TOC.

Indeed. A ticket for 'today' can still be bought at 2359. There was a temporary problem with the system about eight months ago so booking in advance was recommended (in case manual intervention was required from the site administrator). It's solved now but maybe that's become confused as a permanent requirement somewhere.

They are available to you after 6months service.

You can buy them on the day. (Any operator) However each operator has restrictions on what times/trains you can travel on. It’s usually peak services into London and Peak services out of London.
