Afternoon all,

It has been reported that fire crews were called to Paignton Bus Station at 0400hrs this morning where two double-decker buses were well alight. Enviro400 15791 (WA61 KLV) was gutted while another Enviro400, 15797 (WA61 KMJ) was badly burnt down one side.

BBC news article with photos of 15791:

Paignton double-decker buses 'deliberately set on fire'

Two double-decker buses have been been severely damaged in an arson attack in Devon.

Fire crews were called to Paignton Bus Station at about 04:00 BST.

Firefighters found two buses well alight, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.

A spokesman said four firefighters tackled the blaze and confirmed the vehicles had been deliberately set on fire. Fire crews left the bus station at about 05:00.

Pity there are so many sad people around these days.

It is odd that SCSW seemingly cant find a place not far from the bus station to store the vehicles overnight. After this perhaps they might think about it!

Adrian Roberts got a number of photos: he linked to them from a Yahoo!-based group. I think it safe to say that both of those are a total loss but perhaps 15797 could go back on the road, albeit with a fair amount of work: it has certainly come off better from this than 15791.

There was a Dart on the 12 today as a result, glad I wasn't going to Torquay on it, seems like the entire country has started to arrive again!

As for security - they had the perfect opportunity during the recent rebuild to improve security there, as well as the overall facilities, but they did it on the cheap instead. There's plenty of industrial areas nearby which offer secure parking overnight.
