I joined LUL as a Booking Clerk back in the good old days of 1989. Then we had a Nomination system where you could request what station you wanted to work at.
Can anybody remember how this system worked as I am trying to explain to my wife the process.

Thanks

You nominate a station to go to, you get placed on a waiting list until a position becomes available. You could nominate a specific station for a rostered position (harder to get) or a reserve position to cover an area/group of stations (easier to get as you only get advance notice of rest days not your actual shifts, so less desirable). You could nominate more than one location but the general rule used to be that if one of your positions came up, you couldn't refuse it and had to move - as such you needed to keep a close eye and if one reached a low number but you'd changed your mind you could withdraw. A member of staff currently on stations told me currently when you move your existing nominations do actually remain now but you must work at least 12 months at your new location before transferring.
