Stopping short on a Super Sparpreis EU ticket in Utrecht instead of Rotterdam

I've got a Super Sparpreis EU ticket Rotterdam-Germany return ticket. The last change is in Utrecht, and we have found some relatively good accommodation in Utrecht. Is there likely to be any issues with not taking the last Intercity train from Utrecht to Rotterdam, for us to have to return again on the OVcard? Being able to stop short would save us a couple of hours, especially with 2 young children, and the extra Dutch train fare.

According to https://www.bahn.com/en/view/offers/europe/saver-fare-europe-netherlands.shtml
You may only travel on the long-distance trains (ICE, IC/EC) and on the days indicated on the ticket.
When starting or completing your journey on regional or local trains (RE, RB, IRE, S-Bahn), you are not restricted to specific trains or times. Your journey must be completed by 10 am the following day.
So it says the you can only travel on the long distance trains, however doesn't say anything about stopping short and not taking one of them, whereas the UK advance fare rules are much more explicit at not allowing them.

I've had a similar situation, on a Vienna-Rotterdam DB ticket.
Instead of taking the stated connecting trains from Köln to Rotterdam (via Venlo/Eindhoven) I had an hour's break in Köln and got later onward trains.
Nobody batted an eyelid, and my e-ticket was scanned on every train including IC trains in NL.
I don't think stopping short is considered the same sin as it is here.
Many DB fares are the same on a regional basis anyway (eg long distance fares from Hamburg/Munich Airports seem to be the same as from the local Hbf).

Stopping short in the Netherlands is perfectly fine. I'm also not expecting any difficulty in getting through the barriers.

Case in point: a few weeks ago I bought a single e-ticket from Hengelo Gezondheidspark to Rheine (D). I cruised through Germany by train and went back to my home town in the southwest of the country at the end of day (crossing the border at Venlo). The barriers at my home station opened for that e-ticket, despite being more than 150km from Hengelo :D

A friend got a special offer single e-ticket from Den Haag to Eindhoven and it was accepted at the barriers at Rotterdam. I'm guessing barriers don't check whether the break of journey station is en route between the origin and destination, unlike British barriers. I guess the assumption is the route is already checked by staff on the train so the barriers don't need to check.

I think the main purpose of Dutch barriers is more to facilitate a touch-in touch-out smartcard system, more than for "picky" revenue protection relating to the use of tickets that aren't used anywhere near as often as OV-Chipkaarten. So this doesn't surprise me.

It's probably similar to the way the barriers at Birmingham New St open with a very wide variety of tickets (though not any at all; I tried a couple of silly ones last time I was there).

Eurostar tickets open the barriers at Amsterdam Centraal in both directions for the rest of the day, in my experience.

Thanks all for the replies with your experience. The way the fares are pretty much the same to anywhere in The Netherlands does help confirm that it's less of an issue.
