A subway line in Yokohama, near Tokyo, remains partially suspended after one of its trains derailed.

The day's first train on the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line derailed at around 5:20 a.m. on Thursday near Shimoiida Station. Five of the train's six cars jumped the tracks.

Police say 120 to 130 passengers were on board the train, but there have been no reports of injuries.

Municipal officials say maintenance workers forgot to remove a device from the tracks they had been inspecting overnight. The first train apparently hit the device.

Speaking at a news conference at Yokohama city hall, officials apologized for causing trouble for commuters.

They say this is the first derailment on the municipal subway since it began operation in 1972
