Hello all,

I have a super off-peak return from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston, route TfW & WMR only.

I will be returning from London on the 27th (bank holiday), I can get the journey planners to show the 17:46 and 18:46 from Euston departures as valid; however the restriction code says no departures before 19:46 on Mo-Sa.

So really my question is just this: does a bank holiday count as a Sunday for ticketing purposes - and hence no restrictions?

Many thanks as always :)

Restriction code JN, see https://www.brfares.com/!faredetail...pert=on&flow=1&multi=0&fare=2&rte=371&tkt=OPR

27 May is excluded from the restrictions, see information in my link.

Restriction doesn't apply Monday 27th May 2024, so, yes, it'll be similar to using the ticket / travelling on a Sunday.

Thank you, that makes sense. From the other comment I gather that the restrictions are completely lifted on the 27th, but what if they weren't? Would a bank holiday Monday still count as a Monday for restriction purposes, or is it equivalent to a Sunday?

Monday is Monday.
It’s like parking restrictions, if they don’t say “excluding Bank Holidays” they still apply.
However for rail tickets it’d be unusual not to lift them.

One other observation. Bank Holiday or no, you'll still need to travel using TfW and WMR train services (only) if using the particular ticket you hold. That restriction isn't being lifted.

It would certainly be bizarre for them not to be lifted.

The Bank Holiday train service is comparable to a weekend service, therefore weekend rules on using tickets should apply.

Mod note:

I've had to remove several posts which engaged in argumentative discussion about whether or not a "WMR/LNR/TFW ONLY" ticket is included in a section of WMT's website which talks about "WMR & LNR only" tickets; please try and keep discussions civil. In any event, this kind of pedantry isn't particularly helpful to the OP, who has an answer to their question, so I think we'll lock the thread here.

@Panceltic : if you have any further questions, please report this post and we will look into reopening the thread.
