SWT train guard

Hi,

I had an interview for a train guard based at Woking back in February which I was offered! I have since received the email saying that the role has now changed to Metro guard. Is anyone in the same boat and does anybody have any insight into when training may be?

Hi,

That was, I believe, a generic e mail to all applicants sitting in talent pools and waiting for start dates. The e mail said there is no training planned for this year and It has been posted on another thread that a depot had been told guard training will not resume until Q2 2022. When you start will depend on the needs of your depot and your position in the que for that depot. COVID has had a massive impact on training, I was told in Dec 2019 that I was successful as a Commercial Guard at Fratton and looking to start in July/August 2020 and I'm still waiting

With regards to the Metro Guard, all Guards (non Commercial) on London and Suburban routes are to be called Metro Guards. The job spec has changed with the introduction of the new 701s and driver operated doors.

Just an extra bit of info, if you didnt know, guards hours are to be reduced from 42 to 37 a week with no drop in pay by December 2022. Result.

Hearing rumours that metro guards will retain dispatch duties with drivers opening doors and guards closing on the 701's as well.

I’m also waiting for start date at Woking. Was offered the role towards end of last year and have since relocated to within commute time to the depot, as agreed in my interview. The Limbo phase is killing me.
