Can anyone give me any information about taunton station.

I am traveling there on the 27th january from Swansea and i expect to get there around 1am.

i am then traveling on the 02:!5 service to London from Taunton on the 28th january, but the question is how many platforms does taunton have?

It has 5 platforms, 2 on the island on the original fast lines plus up and down loops, on the outside of the up loop there is a short bay. The facilities arent that inspiring during the day and are likely to be closed at that time of night.

Yep, expect to be pretty cold! There is a hot drinks machine on platform 2 although how good it is remains to be judged by myself. Drinks sold at £1 each on it. There used to be a machines vending cans, sadly they got rid of that. There's also a snack vending machine on platform 2.

Having company will help and you've got long platforms, you could have a competition to see which of you can walk them the fastest to keep warm and have fun.

from what I remember of the night me and techniquest was there for the overnighter, yes it was cold, and didnt do much, saw a couple of sheds though, one I think was on the Burngallow to Hope or Moorswater to Irvine diagram.

not much otherwise! and no the station wasn't locked throughout your hour or so fester there, seemed to be open for people probably wanting the sleepers. Don't know if the platform 4 side was unlocked, but it wasn't on the Platform 1 side.

The entrance through to the car park on platform 2 is only an archway anyway. The ticket office entrance was obviously shut.

They used to put barriers at the top of the stairs at night time, seems they finally stopped that idea.

Station is still staffed overnight (or until the Down sleeper leaves), but it's usually pretty quiet outside the weekends out of season. The Up sleeper should arrive with around 10 minutes to spare before loading (not checked the timetable really or got current experience) so plenty of time to get on and find seats not to mention warming up! In December 2007 the Up sat around for well over 30 minutes!

Finally, since the Down last May arrived with over 45 minutes to spare (may have been an hour or more), you might even see it before you leave.

got to taunton at 1aa yesterday morning and after that i went to a nice kebab shop not far from the station.

I must say that i was impressed with the station apart from the dam vending machines that wouldnt take my money.

it wasnt cold yesterday so i did have some time to explore a bit before teh sleeper.
