According to the local paper Island Line are closing from Ryde St John's Road to Shanklin for no less than 10 weeks starting next month!

Martin Neville said:
A MAJOR ten-week engineering project to repair the storm-damaged rail network on the Island will start next month.

Island Line said the £2 million scheme would help future proof the line for years to come and repair storm damage caused last Christmas.
However, the line will be closed between Ryde St Johns Road and Shanklin so a permanent repair can be made to stabilise the slope at Sandown.

The repairs, which will start on Monday, January 12, will involve the installation of two high level steel retaining walls, one at the base of the bank and another at the top. Around 4,000 tonnes of material will be brought in to re-grade the slope.

The company said the new walls would help to protect the track and local homes from further weather-related damage.

Engineers will also carry out normal track maintenance, replacing some signalling components, rails and sleepers....

Yes. Good news that money will be spent on the Island Line. The stations especially look very run down and new signage is needed.

Don't know, but that section is staying open, with the major work at Sandown.
