TfL said:
We are currently dealing with an ongoing cyber security incident. At present, there is no evidence that any customer data has been compromised and there has been no impact on TfL services.

The security of our systems and customer data is very important to us, and we have taken immediate action to prevent any further access to our systems.

We are working closely with the relevant government agencies to respond to the incident.

You can get the latest information on our website.

We will update you further when the incident has been resolved.

Given that:

  1. Cybersecurity "incidents" in the broadest sense happen all the time, everywhere
  2. That will include TfL
  3. TfL haven't previously emailed me, a random person, about any previous "incidents"
  4. Nor have they emailed me about pretty much anything other than planned disruption
  5. While there's a requirement under GDPR for prompt disclosure, the situation as currently described is exempt
  6. There is good service on everything apart from the Circle Line
I conclude that the nature of this "incident" is probably going to be something quite severe and fruity. Otherwise, why bother emailing?
