IF tfl takes over the southeastern metro and northern city line, what would they brand it as?
I don’t think the overground would fit, but I could see them doing TFL rail. Potentially they do something like ‘TFL Metro’Probably the Overground. Maybe TfL Rail?
True true, although I don’t think many people would knowProbably not 'Metro' - that's too close to the Metropolitan line. The term Metro came from the Met line, after all
I've never liked the use of the word 'Metro' to describe anything other than a heavy rail underground style system.Potentially they do something like ‘TFL Metro’
I don't know too much about the SE metro routes, how do you think they'd be split into different 'lines' (if they would at all)Probably Overground. It's comparable to the Chingford line or the Watford DC.
It would probably use those routes. Having the Elizabeth line as overground would probably be confusing for your average Jim and Margaret as they would think it was above ground and cause more chaos. I’ve already had family members get confused using the ELL. Having it as part of the overground operationally would be good, but advertising it as overground when the most used part (at least for non locals) is primarily underground is a big no no from meIf Southeastern was to be taken over by TFL, I would prefer it to be branded London Overground, as part of an overall brand for suburban rail services in London. I’m not fond the new lines names but it has helped in distinguishing the different lines of the network in a similar way to the tube.
I think the different lines would be:
London Victoria - Orpington
London Victoria - Gravesend
London - Orpington / Sevenoaks / Hayes, Grove Park - Bromley (these ones could be split up but would involve more colours and names on the map)
London - Dartford via Sidcup, Bexleyheath or Woolwich (I think these lines are too complex to be divided up)
I also have a controversial opinion that the Elizabeth line should be branded London Overground, and it could keep the line name. Of course it would be pointless to repaint the trains and change all the roundels, amongst other things, but it would reduce the number of rail brands in London and it really isn't that much different from the East and North London lines. The only differences are that the trains have more doors per carriage and the line goes through the heart of London.

Yes, I do have a problem with it, if the system was new and wasn’t historic. However, the overground and the Elizabeth line is new (ish). I also agree with you, the Elizabeth line is a different mode, that mode being crossrail (not too different to the RER or S-Bahn) whereas the overground is more like the regional/suburban services which also exist in many European cities. The Elizabeth line also stops a little less (at least it feels like it) than overground servicesThe Liz is a bit different though. I agree with those who say Elizabeth Line shouldn't be a mode, though - the mode is Crossrail, the line is the Elizabeth Line, possibly joined by the Charles Line at some point in the future if Crossrail 2 ever happens.
Haha! Hopefully we see some region/history based naming if they mustSouth London Metro was a Connex branding, which for some reason didn't go anywhere. Just keep it as part of the Overground, but keep City Hall away from the naming.
Are there rumours that they will take over these lines? I know Khan was after the SE metro routes.IF tfl takes over the southeastern metro and northern city line, what would they brand it as?
I’m pretty sure he announced it in a news article, slamming them for being late all the timeAre there rumours that they will take over these lines? I know Khan was after the SE metro routes.
I agree that 'London Crossrail' should be a mode. Thameslink and the Elizabeth Line would fit nicely into this. The Liz is a bit different though. Thameslink is quite different from Crossrail IMO, not because it doesn’t cross London with mainline trains, but it doesn’t really serve the London region exclusively and is more of a regional express/ partial commuter service. Thameslink serves places that are up to 100 miles apart from each other, not anything like Crossrail does.I agree that 'London Crossrail' should be a mode.
