Have TFL suddenly gained a lot of money to spend on tv advertising?

Up here in the North East of England, each advert break for the last 2 hours I’ve watched on ch4 has an Advert for TFL, about freezing fares, low emmision buses, and the super loop!

Am sure people up here really value this advert!

More likely a technical problem at the Channel 4 end. The London region is usually the default one to be broadcast when there is some issue with the regional opt-outs.

Possibly a technical error. Channel 4 sells advertising across six regions: London, South of England, Midlands, North of England, Ulster and Scotland.

Seen the same advert being screened in West region

Ironically never seen a WECA advert on TV which would be local

Hopefully they fix it soon, I’m fed up of it.

There was a Freedom of Information request about their spending on advertising. Blogger 'Diamond Geezer' shared this FOI reply on a recent blogpost (link below):
Over the last five years TfL spent £49,084,627 on advertising, of which 23% went on digital, 20% on radio, 18% on posters, 14% on TV, 12% on video on demand, 8% on press, 4% on social media and 2% on cinema.

So just under 10 million pounds per year on publicity.

It would be nice if tfl spent some advertising money to tell people that the contactless website is now up and running. I dont recall getting an email about this , i only noticed by accident yesterday when randomly surfing the net

Even better if they spent on improving the call centre. Still trying to get through to them to resolve a number of 'incompletes' on contactless that got mangled up following their cyber attack.....
