They've been gone for ages now, just selling tickets for the citylink service.

If you want to see an airport service dome badly though go to Rome Ciampiano, there are about four operators there, who operate every 45-60 minutes each none of them are keen to advertise their times and you can have a long wait for any of them if you are unlucky.

It's an example of what happens when there are too many companies that spread themselves too thin.

Agreed. It's chaotic. I use a taxi now. It's dearer but it drops me off by my hotel and I never stay near Rome Station.

About the only thing good about Ciampino Airport was the Terravision service which was pretty cheap and reliable when I used it. The airport is horrible, down there with Bergamo. Possibly the 2 worst Airports I have been to in Europe.

And with a name like Terravision parked at an airport in these days of heightened security at all airports it seemed a bit wrong

It is a ridiculous name... but they should have shown some Perseverance and stayed off the Tequila. Easy!

I'm here all week...;)

Terravision was cheap but when I arrived there the desk was closed despite the fact that there were supposed to be two buses leaving within 30 minutes of me coming out of arrivals. A terravision bus turned up 45 minutes later when I was waiting for the shuttle to the rail station when I asked the rep what their timetable was and he said the timetable on the website is a guide but the actual timetable depends on number of advance bookings.

On the way back to the airport where I took the shuttle from Ciampino station to the airport, the bus that only runs every 40 minutes, left 6 minutes early with the driver driving like a madman, leaving one person running for the bus behind and also went the wrong way sine he was driving so fast he was unable to slow down in enough time to make the turning.

Worst airport I've been to? Chaelroi, easy, so many gates in such a small area in the summer = sweatbox and like sardines.

I was purely talking about experience. I don't think Terravision are great. They were just the only decent thing about Ciampino. Your second paragraph is irrelevant as it is about another company. I can imagine Charleroi airport is bad, a bit like Warsaw Modlin, you get what you pay for.

Modlin is better than Charleroi, at least it's modern and compact to get through and has a bit of room and has more air, even if it's far from perfect. The only good thing able Charleroi is they look like they spent more on the high spec buses to/from Brussels than they did on the actual airport itself.

The reason I was mentioning the other bus was basically saying that all of the transport is crap at Ciampino now, there are 3 coach services and two bus services from the airport and each one of them runs at a frequency no better than every 30-40 minutes if not worse.

This is one kind of place where I'd wish the airport would do like Stansted and put a tender out and limit it to 2 or 3 operators at most because it would end up providing a far better service for passengers.

When I have been at Ciampino (not recently) the coaches only left when they were fairly full. You won't get them any more organised - they prefer to do things 'The Italian Way'.

Yeah fair play mate. To be honest Modlin isn't that bad, it was only 2 weeks ago I was last there, didn't use Modlinbus this time but have done before and it does provide a decent service. Couldn't twist my fellow travellers arms not to get a taxi though alas.

Still a shame the way they where bullied out they provided a cheap link between London & Stanstead, is there anything left other than NX, . They tried the same thing at Luton but green line fought back, I hate bullies.

To be fair it does just mean "seeing the land", though I agree it does sound a bit weird.

Have you been to Bergamo recently? It's now brand-new inside and one of the best low-cost airline airports I have used.

You know what mate, apologies to Bergamo, I forgot how fast time flies, it was 8 years ago I was there. :D

I seriously can't believe that was 8 years ago, feels like yesterday!
