In recent events about the Fyra service and the second most important city of the united nations loosing it's direct connection to Brussels, the local council of The Hague has set up a TOC to make sure the city remains well connected to Brussels and the rest of Europe. The Hague Trains Holding (THTH) has applied for an hourly train path from The Hague Centraal to Brussels South calling at Den Haag Hollands Spoor, Delft, Rotterdam Centraal, Dordrecht, Roosendaal, Antweropen Centraal, Mechelen, Brussels Airport, Brussel Centraal and Brussel Zuid/Midi.

After a tender to invite operators who would be willing to take the financial risk in ordering the trains and operating them Arriva was last week announced to be the operator of choice.

National rail (NS) claims that this is "unfair competition". The Cartel watch dog has been asked to form an official statement on the matter, but Arriva and The Hague are so convinced about their legal rights that International Railway Journal claimed that Arriva has ordered eight Flirt train sets of six coaches each with Stadler Rail in Switzerland to provide rapid and high quality stock to start the service in December 2015 or earlier if possible.
