Since commutting reguarly on the District Line between the City and Mile End (for my onward Central Line connection home) I have wondered why LUL still run Tower Hill services instead of say sending these trains out to Plaistow (Where this is a free bay platform now that all H&City lines go out to Barking) instead of Tower Hill as these trains dont serve any real benefit to people travelling East from Tower Hill and there seems to be a few of them per hour.

Surely it is time that these services were extended to Plaistow to provide better connections with Tube services at Mile End/West Ham and LO services at Whitechapel plus this could also allow the Bay platform at Tower Hill to be converted into a through platform for the Westbound services by a small adjustment to the tracks at the Eastern end so it is connected as this becoming a through platform would add capacity through the station instead of leaving congestion in the peak time as trains could run more frequently where the services swap between eitherside of the island as they come in from either Aldgate East (District) or Aldgate (Circle)

Has anyone else thought that the Tower Hill services should be extended east and anyone agree with converting the middle track to a through westbound?

Off-peak Tower Hill reversers are due to be extended to Barking from December 2019.

The bay road is already connected at the eastern end, to both eastbound and westbound tracks to allow for through running and possibly emergency extension of a Metropolitan S8 train. Track works were completed in July. The signalling will be connected when the area is upgraded to ATC.

Are peak Tower Hill terminators still a transitional move towards the final 32 tph service (under SSR resignalling) that won't have any at all? At which time Tower Hill centre road becomes a perturbation facility only?

Of course what they publicised in 2010 in the run up to "T-cup" may well be completely out of date, after all the resignalling was once due by 2018...

Could Dstock7080 perhaps comment on whether the 2010 board paper on SSR final service patterns is still a reasonable guide, or not?
