I love the thrash of the CAT but I don't want it outside my bedroom for 30 minutes at 5am when I am trying to sleep thank you! Yes 1E23 (05:56 LIV-SCA) started from MCV today because of some problem with Freightliner trains entering the Trafford Park terminal. The ECS move from Longsight to LIV (5E23) was stopped behind 2 Freightliners for 30 minutes between Castlefield and Cornbrook with the class 68 loudly chugging not 50 metres from my sleepy head.
Anyway, it eventually turned in the reversing siding at Trafford Park East Jcn and instead ran to MCV to start 1E23 from there.

Anyone know if TPE are hoping to have all the Novas working after the timetable change on 15/12/19?

I should have mentioned that RTT are showing services for 397s and 80xs but not 68s.

As posted some time ago, RTT suggests that four diagrams will be 68+Mk5 from the December timetable change, 2 overnight at Longsight and 2 overnight at Scarborough - diagrams 1, 2, 5 and 7 in this post https://www.railforums.co.uk/thread...s-no-images-please.190693/page-3#post-4234781 and this is backed up by this https://www.yorkshirecoastradio.com...boroughs-new-train-depot-to-open-in-december/

There’s a mk5 set in Platform 7 at York at moment and looks like it was cancelled from York. Another trip on the Coastliner bus for some!

Many thanks again for all of your efforts, greatly appreciated. I’ve had a look at Sunday and tried to see what looks to broadly match the current diagrams.

I’m a bit uncertain about 1E53 since that leads to an imbalance in the diagrams but it does run into platform 1 at Scarborough implying a trip to Scarborough TMD (the other trains are booked into platform 3).

I wonder if there are any ‘out and back’ diagrams from Scarborough on a Sunday or just the two still?

Diagram 1
5E27 06:52 Longsight-Manchester Airport (07:28)
1E27 07:46 Manchester Airport-Scarborough (10:53)
1F64 11:32 Scarborough-Liverpool Lime Street (14:34)
1E41 14:52 Liverpool Lime Street-Scarborough (17:52)
1F78 18:32 Scarborough-Manchester Victoria (20:55)
1E53 21:15 Manchester Victoria-Scarborough (23:38)
Scarborough p1-Scarborough TMD

Diagram 2
5E29 08:53 Longsight-Manchester Piccadilly (09:04)
1E29 09:27 Manchester Piccadilly-Scarborough (11:50)
1F66 12:32 Scarborough-Liverpool Lime Street (15:34)
1E43 15:52 Liverpool Lime Street-Scarborough (18:53)
1P92 19:32 Scarborough-Manchester Airport (22:22)
5H90 22:32 Manchester Airport-Longsight (00:02)

The first departure from Scarborough on 15 December appears to end the day at Ardwick. The second departure from Scarborough does appear to be 'out and back' from Scarborough.

1F60 0932 Scarborough to Liverpool Lime Street
1E37 1252 Liverpool Lime Street to Scarborough
1F74 1632 Scarborough to Liverpool Lime Street
1E51 1952 Liverpool Lime Street to Scarborough

Sunday doesn't have to 'balance' on its own like a weekday does so long as Saturday and Sunday combined does (especially on the first day of a new timetable). Two 68+Mk5 formations at Scarborough on Sunday night matches what we think are the weekday diagrams.

If you then look at 22 December, the first departure from Scarborough does link through to Longsight at the end of the day.

So I think 3 diagrams on 15 December and 4 on 22 December.

I’m especially interested in the first Sunday with those being the first Nova 3 trains to call at Garforth, that was my local station as a kid, I’m really hoping to get some pictures (and haulage!) there that day:)

68027 'Splendid' is currently working 1E25, 06.56 Liverpool (LIV) -Scarborough (SCA)
It should then work:

1F76 17.44 SCA-LIV
1J53 20.56 LIV-Stalybridge.

The locomotive is propelling towards Scarborough and hauling towards Liverpool.

**update 16:30** - 1F76/1J53 cancelled

I was on the 19:56 Liverpool to Scarborough which terminated at Piccadilly. Weird alighting from Mk5s in Piccadilly at that time, however it got me comfortably on to the 21:01 to Crewe home so I can't really complain!

68027 'Splendid', which stabled at Scarborough overnight, worked 1F60, 09.41 Scarborough-Liverpool, between Scarborough and York where the service terminated. It returned ECS to Scarborough.

From the December timetable change, does anyone know if the 20:30 Victoria to Leeds (19:54 off Lime Street) is planned to be a Mk5a please?

ESIT: This is referring to Saturdays.

So will it be four sets from Monday, or more? I'd say it should ideally be 7 or 8 but maybe I'm an optimist

4 sets are booked from Monday however I'm not sure of the last time the current 2 diagrams both managed to complete a full diagram on the same day.

68022 is out today working 1E25, 1F62 etc while 68019 appears to have worked 1F60 SCA-YRK and is apparently working 1E37 YRK-SCA later between training runs.

Utter shambles today. One diagram mostly caped, now 68022 and stock on the other diagram has been taken out of service due to a fault.

As for 4 diagrams from Sunday? Good luck with that!

TPE has been in the headlines recently regarding cancellations and poor services, particularly on the Scarborough route and now even on the National Rail site it's stated there will be amended service on the Liverpool-Newcastle-Scotland route from Sunday till 5th Jan. TPE's introduction of the trains has been poor to say the least, one day we'll get all in service...

Monday 18/11/2019 was the last time both diagrams were fully completed with 68027 on diagram 5 and 68028 on diagram 1.

Wednesday 11/12/2019 came close with just a Manchester to Liverpool and return cancelled due to a bridge strike. Other than that both diagrams ran. I do take your point though!

Let’s hope the new timetable and crewing arrangements bring some much needed resilience.

I think Advanced Purchase tickets are currently only for the very brave (or foolish)!

To be fair, Sundays have tended to produce two diagrams, last Sunday being the exception rather than the norm. I do take your point though!

1E51 is the train I always book onto on a Saturday evening. It's not currently cancelled so do you know if it's running as a 185 or will it be axed later?
