I imagine this will be train service controlling. So you'll be doing everything from responsibility of a specific geographic area / set of routes on a real-time basis for any issues that occur, dealing with any level of service disruption, liasing with crew, signallers, fleet & depot staff and technicians with regards to any range of that service disruption to rectify it, and making service amendments accordingly (e.g. cancelling, diverting, running fast, terminating/starting short, set swaps, utilising spares). You'll also need to liaise with people within the room which I think is York or Manchester. I suppose there's "daily duties", but each shift is going to throw up a range of different issues; some you will barely breathe and others will be more laid back.
Most service delivery / control rosters I've seen are early / late / night with 12h weekends. So something along the lines of 0700-1400, 1400-2100, 2100-0700. You'll likely have spare and training shifts integrated into your roster, The job description should have been attached to the advert, so refer to that for info.
Key competencies will be aspects like a proactive nature, ability to multi-task, remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively and balance priorities from competiting demands.
