Is there a training course in london. The nearest course I could find in google was staffordshire. McGinley is on a recruitment drive for track inducted personnel. They've disguised this fact by specifying all applicants who held their PTS prior to 2003 (when presumably it was part of the PTS). Having spent £600 on the PTS is it worth getting the track induction (cost £1,100, this include VAT and accommodation).

I'm working on the assumption a company won't do this for me.
It wouldn't be worth it if I didn't get regular work and that work was paying less than £9ph.

Hi pop_gun

From what I have seen all railway labourer jobs require you to have CSCS so might be worth doing that.

I would like to hear back from people who have the track induction.

I went on railwaypeople and saw a vacancy for PTS groundworker\labourer. I called the agency (optima site solutions) and was asked 2 simple questions. Did I have the PTS and was I track inducted. TBH I didn't know about track induction. The rep explained (even the bit about the PTS prior to 2003 having it).
It makes me wonder if all the PTS jobs will require track induction (the advertisement didn't even mention it).

I would like to find a training provider in london if one exists.
Can anyone help?

Hi i've had pts since may 2012 which I paid over £600 for, little did I know when I contacted a company called k.j rail training I could have done my pts and track induction for £400!
since doing my pts i've only done 2 month's work on the rail and the odd Saturday and sunday night as a labourer. another thing I find with agencies is they wont give you work due to lack of experience? and being a blue hat! how you ment to get experience without having a go at the job?
I am currently trying to sort out my track induction as im not getting much work, and all the agencies I ring such as McGinley and coyles rail say you need track induction.
So hopefully the track induction will get me more work in theory.

i got my pts in 2004 and i heard about the new track induction it was a load of B****, its keeping men from working on the rail it should be meant for the p way lads not civils using the different tools. the new blue hat, white hat is news to me they should have red hats for all the arse lickers on the rail when i was there no work in them, but still they got kept on and the grafters got flirted! how are you going to get experience if they dont give you a chance, all i can say is phone them agencies until they get sick of hearing your name, when this new work comes liverpool line they will be dragging people off the streets...good luck mate...
