Does anybody know what program / software the TOC's use for their simulators when training drivers? I would imagine it would be specially written but it would be interesting to find out as would the hardware specs they use!

Scotrail actually planned to use a version of Railworks for the proposed Glasgow Airport Rail Link driver training featuring the route and Class 380. A professional upgraded version was designed and featured on Totalize Media (sadly all information and screenshots are now gone). Of course, the line was then abandoned so any work done was actually released to the public as an add-on for the retail version of Railworks by TM.

Exactly how this was to have been used for driver training, I don't know, it seems like a cheaper alternative to having a custom built simulator designed, I am sure I have seen costs for these quoted in seven figures. Presumably, this software would have been some sort of advanced brief for the drivers, enabling them to get a basic idea of speed limits, curve radius etc before actually training on the route itself once built.
